The NGF Teens Tutoring program is a great opportunity for those interested in human services, social work, teaching, or college/career experience that serves their communities!
NGF Teen Volunteers
NGF seeks to empower new leaders of tomorrow through literacy achievement, teen leadership, and enrichment and educational programs that will positively impact their lives.
Older teens in grades 9-12 are given diverse and engaging opportunities to serve their communities by mentoring and leading younger students in our SmarterMe programs. Teens are given a platform to effectively engage through job readiness opportunities, outreach, and networking through individualized coaching and group training. They receive guidance from certified teachers, counselors, and program directors to prepare them to rise to all challenges and accomplish any personal and professional goals.
As a volunteer, there are many opportunities to become involved with our students as mentors and instructors. Volunteers provide instructional time, tutoring, and homework assistance to small groups of students in kindergarten through 12th grade, in the core subjects of reading, writing, and math. Certified teachers provide clear direction and support for each session. If you like to work with students and want to share your talents to help our community, NGF has excellent opportunities for you!
NGF College & Career Readiness
We aim to support our teen volunteers in their college and career aspirations as best we can! We provide the following at no charge throughout the school year to our teen volunteers:
- Resume, Cover Letter, & College Essay Application Review
- Mock Interviews
- Practice SATs & AP tests
- Verification of Service Hours &
- Recommendation Letters

Presidential Volunteer Service Awards
NGF is proud to offer the President’s Volunteer Service Award for our teen volunteers. The Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) is a national award presented to volunteers who meet the volunteer hour requirements following their age group. The PVSA has been paused by the current government administration, but hours will be honored and awards can be administered once the PVSA becomes available again. Volunteers who meet the volunteer hour requirements during the PVSA pause can request a stand-in certificate from NGF to recognize their dedication and effort to supporting student success. These will be administered quarterly. The PVSA and NGF’s VSA can be listed on your resume as a great way to show initiative and dedication to volunteering.
