Are you interested in joining our NGF Team? Volunteers are critical to our programs, and opportunities are available for you! Volunteers are the engine that powers NGF.

We are grateful for the adult volunteers who return to help us year after year, and teen mentors who volunteer throughout high school and return to us even after they go on to college.

Volunteers have shared their experiences at NGF here.

About

We seek motivated youth ages 14 or older with an interest in service learning by giving back to our community. Volunteers should have a strong belief in the NGF Mission, and should be dedicated to working directly with our students and raising awareness of our organization.

Older teens in grades 9-12 are given diverse and engaging opportunities to serve their communities by mentoring and leading younger students in our SmarterMe programs.

NGF Volunteer Program

Our volunteer program is open to high school students and adults of all backgrounds and affiliations who desire to make a difference in their communities. NGF can help them to elevate their leadership skills, make meaningful connections, and foster life skills as they journey on to higher education and adulthood. Teens are given a platform to effectively engage through job readiness opportunities, outreach, and networking through individualized coaching and group training. They receive guidance from certified teachers, counselors, and program directors to prepare them to rise to all challenges and accomplish any personal and professional goals.

NGF is proud to offer the President’s Volunteer Service Award for our teen volunteers. The Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) is a national award presented to volunteers (age 16 and up) who meet the volunteer hour requirements following their age group.  Volunteer participation in the PVSA is optional, but it can be listed on your resume as a great way to show initiative and dedication to volunteering.

As a volunteer, there are many opportunities to become involved with our students as mentors and instructors. Volunteers provide instructional time, tutoring, and homework assistance to small groups of students in kindergarten through 12th grade, in the core subjects of reading, writing, and math. Certified teachers provide clear direction and support for each session. If you like to work with students and want to share your talents to help our community, NGF has excellent opportunities for you!
